Fremantle ''Dingo Flour''

This illustration is inspired from the iconic Dingo Flour building in Fremantle.

The “Dingo” flour mill is an unmistakable icon in Western Australia. Built in 1922, our North Fremantle site celebrated its centenary recently and mills bulk flour whilst also producing bread pre-mixes.

Great Southern Roller Flour Mills was officially opened March 28, 1922.
The Dingo has been a landmark in Fremantle for over 102 years, so much so that it was overpainted during WWII as it provided a landmark for enemy agents. Site was heritage listed in 2008. Today it is still used as a landmark for both mariners and public on land.

Motorists travelling along the highway between Fremantle and Cottesloe cannot help but notice it, now Aboriginal artists are reclaiming it.

The red Dingo Flour logo, famously painted by a young Alan Bond in his sign-writer days is also a symbol of poverty and oppression.
